Both are 11th Gen Intel Core business laptops, so the processors are close. On Dell’s documents the practical difference for a used buyer is memory: the 5420 has two DDR4 slots (up to 64 GB) while Dell states you cannot upgrade the memory on the 7420 (up to 32 GB). The 7420 name also covers a 2-in-1 with its own regulatory model, so confirm which one a listing is.
